How Do The Rookies Help Your Team in Madden 10 - NFC North?

Hey Madden fans, the draft is over and I know everyone is trying to see how the new batch of rookies affect their team on the field. No, I'm not talking real NFL, I'm talking Madden 10. I think we can all agree that even though players are not that good in real life, they can be monsters in Madden. I won't go over every pick, just the first round.
So in this series of articles I'm going to go team-by-team how their draft improved their team in Madden NFL 10. We are going to start with the NFC North Division.
Detroit Lions
Let's start with the 0-16 Detroit Lions. Every Detroit Lions fan is rejoicing today because they feel they finally have a shot of winning the majority of their games in Madden 10. I'm here to say that the Lions are still going to be the Lions and although they have upgraded key positions, they still need a lot of work.
Pick #1 (1 Overall) - QB - Matthew Stafford

You see that Stafford is a 79 Overall but what you don't see is that he has a 71 SPD and has an arm like a cannon. Now I know he's no Pat White (87 SPD), but it's better than Sanchez. This guy can throw any pass but that doesn't matter in Madden, it's can he throw accurately and he can. So put Daunte on the bench and have him ready for when Stafford get's injured because there is no way you'll be able to keep heat off of him with that terrible Lions offensive line.
Lions Pick #2 (20 Overall) - TE - Brandon Pettigrew

So a QB's best friend in real life is a running game, but in the game of Madden a QB's best friend is a nice tall fast TE. In my personal opinion, TE's are the difference in Madden between a good offense that can move the ball and a bad offense that go 3 and out a lot. Brandon Pettigrew will be a big target for Stafford as he is 6'5'' and 235. And before people get upset at me and tell me to don't forget Calvin Johnson ..... Calvin is going to get doubled so Pettigrew will have plenty of space whie Calvin occupies the safteys. His SPD is not blazing at 70 compared to other TE's in his class (Jared Cook - 85 SPD, Travis Beckum - 84 SPD) but his run block 80 (RBK) and his pass block 58 is better than any other TE therefore you can afford to have him on the field alot.
Chicago Bears
The Bears didn't have any 1st round draft picks because they gave it away for Cutler. So let's move on because they didn't pick in the second round either and I don't think Jeron Gilbert - DT (72 OVR) or Jauquin Iglesias - WR (71 OVR, 85 SPD) is going to make a big difference next year.
Green Bay Packers
So after a year without Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers being the QB of the future, the Green Bay Packers elect to get some young guys on defense.
Packers Pick #1 (9th Overall) - DT - BJ Raji

BJ Raji is a stud in the middle of the defensive line and that will transfer over to Madden 10. Green Bay has about 8 DT so if anything this frees up some room to get some free agents in Franchise mode. The 93 strength and 86 tackle is the best for any rookie DT in the league. Control BJ and you control the middle of that line.
Packers Pick #2 (20 Overall) - OLB - Clay Matthews

Clay Matthews is another AJ Hawk and now you have speed and agility at both OLB positions. Clay and AJ Hawk are going to cause trouble for any offense. Clay has the speed to keep up with the top TE's in the game and at 6'3'' he'll be able to jump (80 JMP) and tip some balls coming his way. ;
Minnesota Vikings
With Adrian Peterson getting a lot of attention last year, the Vikings needed to go get someone that can stretch the filed and at least try to keep safetys honest. Ranked in the bottom of the league in passing, the need for a WR was clear.
Vikings Pick #1 (22 Overall) - WR - Percy Harvin

Percy Harvin is Speed and has the same rating of speed as Darius Heyward-Bey (OAK). He's gonna be the home-run threat for the Vikings which will hopefully clear room for Adrian Peterson. With that said I think it will Peterson who opens up things for him and Percy will be in a lot of one-on-one situations because of AP. I think this was an excellent pick for the Vikings and having him on one side and Berrian on the other with Shianco at TE; this will be on hard offense to stop. Percy is also a good fit for the Wildcat offense as he has a better THP 42 and THA 40 than any other WR in the draft.
So there you have it, a list of the top rookies in the NFC North Division and how they will impact a team. If this is one of your teams then tell us how you plan on using each rookie. If there is another rookie in the NFC North we should know about that will make an impact, let us know.

see that viking offense will be off tha hook, but i'm a ravens fan and when i play them i plan on using alot of blitz schemes to stop them (shades of rex ryan ) still remains.

I agree TLD, Percy is going to be a monster. I don't think I stressed enough how much he helps that Vikings offense.

Percy is going to be a beast in Madden. I'm going to run him out of the slot and let him use his speed to the advantage. Look out, Percy is gonna be ripping up the virtual grid iron!

I agree, the Bears had no impact in the draft.
