The first patch is now available for the PS3 according to PastaPadre.com and should be released for the 360 sometime today. This 1st patch for Madden 10 has been in the works for a while and is much anticipated by the community at large. The patch fixes some of the glaring issues with Madden 10 and another patch is in the works.
The Patch addresses the following issues:
* Added Super Bowl and Playoff field conditions in Online Franchise
- I haven’t seen the Superbowl yet for online franchise so I can’t say what difference this would make.
* Fixed false start griefing issue with online games
- I haven’t seen a lot of false starts online and frankly haven’t heard a lot of people complaining about it.
* Fixed video player issues (sometimes video would hang) in Online area
- The video player on EASportsworld.com has been a big issue with me as well as the next fix.
* Improved quality of uploaded video highlights
- This was just horrible. I didn’t even want to upload any videos after seeing how bad they were. Last years highlights were so much better in quality and I thought this year that they would provide more features. Hopefully they will add the broadcast camera to the highlight package.
* Switched ranked online games to seven minute quarters
- Wow, 7 minutes. I didn’t see anything wrong with the time before. Maybe going to 6 would have been better. I think 7 minutes is going to be way too long but I haven’t played it so I will post my thoughts tomorrow about how this affects the game.
* Random stability fixes
- I don’t know what to think of “Random Stability Fixes”. I really hope this means the random times the game disconnects. Over half of my losses have been disconnects apparently on me when I’ve been leading at that. I’ve actually started giving mercy cause I don’t want the game to disconnect and give me the loss.
* Added broadcast camera
- The Broadcast camera gonna be pretty sweet. Now I hear that you’ll be able to play with it. I’ll try to play a game with the broadcast camera and see how it goes.
* Tuned slider effectiveness
- Not really a big slider guy, but my friend says he’ll be testing that out because some sliders were just not effective when turned all the way down or up.
* Made fatigue affect ratings more
- I’m really interested to see how this will affect the gameplay if it affects it at all. I’m real big on fatigue and it playing a crucial part of the game. I can’t nothing more than someone bombing it to Moss 3 straight times and on the 4th time he’s just as fast and hands are just as good. I think if done properly this will affect the running backs more than anything. I think EA does a good job with the fatigue as far as subbing guys out, but a green Adrian Peterson should not be as effective as a dark orange Adrian Peterson.
* Tuned broken tackle chances
- I’m gonna miss breaking all those tackles with Matt Forte … lol.
* Reduced/removed holding on kick attempts
- definitely something that needed to be fixed. Hopefully it is removed from the game.
* Improved-toe drag catch logic
- Maybe I don’t throw too many out routes or sideline catches but I haven’t seen any to drag catch to begin with so any improvement should be good.
* General pursuit improvements
- this was fixed with the last updated rosters as far as the offense taking bad pursuit angles after interceptions. I haven’t seen that problem too much on defense.
* Man coverage improvements
* Fixed double pass online exploit
The two fixes I’m most excited to see are the fatigue affecting ratings. I think this is something that is done right could greatly affect the gameplay and also force players to switch up their plays. I’m also excited about the Man coverage improvements. I don’t really know what to expect from the improved man coverage but I will definitely look at that to see how much improved it is. One of the tests I will run is how good the person checking the RB out of the backfield will cover.
